MSI Montauk Black

Montauk Black gives a room the depth of charcoal slate rather than a printed stone look. Its dark surface can ground light cabinetry or create a tonal bathroom wall. At Toledo Design House, compare the slate's actual texture with the scale of the room and the level of everyday care you prefer.

Make it your own

Plan the whole room.

  • Compare the honed and gauged options in person rather than assuming every format has the same surface.
  • Review multiple pieces together and select a grout color that supports the intended dark, continuous appearance or a stronger grid.
  • Plan stone care from the start: control tracked-in grit, use appropriate cleaners and discuss the recommended sealer.

Before you choose

Montauk Black questions, answered.

Is Montauk Black a porcelain slate look?

No. It is genuine slate. Natural texture and piece-to-piece differences are part of its character, even though MSI describes the overall color variation as low.

Does sealing make a slate floor stain-proof?

No. MSI explains that an impregnating sealer can improve stain resistance but does not make stone stain-proof. Select the sealer and maintenance schedule for the stone, finish and room's use.
